Reporting to Jure Mandic , Program Director - Track & Civil, could you be our new Site Supervisor for Projects ?

The Site Supervisor plays a crucial role in overseeing daily site operations, including safety, delivery, and accessibility. As the first point of contact for all site activities, the Site Supervisor ensures efficient execution of infrastructure projects by managing internal and external resources, including plant, labour, and materials.

About the role

Responsibilities:

Safety and Risk Leadership: The Site Supervisor is responsible for safety and risk management on a day-to-day basis. Complexity Management: The role involves working within and managing complexity, especially during occupation regimes. Attention to Detail: The Site Supervisor is comfortable working with meticulous attention to detail. Effective Communication: The ability to communicate effectively at various levels is essential.

The Site Supervisor also ensures that site works adhere to safety protocols and align with V/Line's documented guidelines. By providing a safe workplace for staff and maintaining a secure environment for customers and visitors, you will contribute significantly to project success.

Key Accountabilities:

Construction Supervision: Plan, execute, and supervise daily construction activities, including railway infrastructure, earthworks, and drainage. Collaboration: Work closely with the Project Manager and Engineers, maintaining observation records. Issue Management: Escalate concerns to the Project Manager as needed. Safety: Monitor onsite activities, promptly report safety, security, and environmental incidents following V/Line procedures (SAPR-33); Provide clear recommendations for ongoing safe and effective performance. Quality Assurance: Ensure works comply with Standards and Specifications. Site Access Coordination: Coordinate site access per contract documentation and V/Line procedures. Compliance Audits: Audit adherence to site access requirements and safe working practices. Occupation Oversight: Manage occupations necessary for project completion. Handover Documentation: Accept, witness, and review hand back and handover documents.

Day-to-day responsibilities:

Resource Supervision: Oversee internal and subcontracted resources for timely project delivery. Materials and Equipment Management: Supervise the receipt of materials, plant, and equipment. Subcontractor Coordination: Monitor subcontractor activities to ensure timely delivery of their specific scope of work for the project. Quality Assurance: Address quality-related issues and close out corrective action for non-conformances. Environmental Controls: Manage on-site environmental controls and incident reporting.

About you

Essential requirements:

TLIF2080 Safely Access the Rail Corridor (SARC) and/or VICL10TTSA (Victorian TTSA - Level 1 Train Track Safety Awareness). 10+ years' experience in Rail Construction , with sound understanding of the Rail Safety Act 2006 (Vic), and rail standards and operating procedures. Working at the Supervisory level in Rail Construction : You have demonstrated, hands-on experience in rail construction. You likely started out your career working on the tools and have transitioned to a supervisory role where you are a subject matter expert and a capable people leader. You know how to source and supervise a workforce of labourers, construction workers, machine operators, plant & equipment operators, and subcontractors and supervise them to deliver the scope. Effective Decision-Making and Leadership : Demonstrates self-sufficiency, confident decision-making, and ability to make informed choices; Leads others while respecting their autonomy; Capable stakeholder management skills. Driver Licence and ability to stay overnight & travel to regional sites.

Desirable:

A Diploma or Certificate IV in Frontline Leadership is desirable, but we place greater emphasis on candidates with a proven track record of leadership and capability in heavy rail.

This is a newly created, permanent opportunity with salary in range $111,723 TRP (Total Remuneration Package) and $128,200 TRP .

Benefits include a Tool-of-Trade vehicle for work purposes, provisions for overtime, 4-weeks' annual leave, superannuation, and free myki for metro & regional travel.
