We're seeking an experienced Occupational Health & Safety Officer to support the delivery of the Goorambat Solar Farm by ensuring the project is constructed in a safe and compliant manner. The role will be responsible for the daily supervision / oversight of the EPC contractor activities to ensure works are conducted in accordance with approved safety management systems and plans.

The incumbent will be accountable to the Head of Operations & HSE and will be based at the project site in Benalla, Victoria. This is about 2.5 hours drive from Melbourne.

This is a full time role and will be available until the Goorambat Solar Farm is constructed and commissioned. It is anticipated this will be approximately 2 years.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and administer ENGIE's health and safety management systems at the project site, development of ENGIE's health and safety management systems and tools and verifying contractors compliance of work against approved systems of work.
  • Communication of ENGIE's expectations in relation to safe work practices and behaviours.
  • Daily supervision of contractor's activities to ensure works being conducted safely.
  • Propose and implement safety initiatives within the work site that promotes a positive safety culture considering feedback from all stakeholders.
  • Management of contractor compliance against ENGIE lifesaving rules and One ENGIE Safety program
  • Review and audit contractor safety systems and documentation
  • Attend and actively participate in risk workshops, toolbox, simultaneous operations (SIMOPS) and daily pre-start meetings
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of plans regarding key health and safety strategies, issues and risks.
  • Participate in and conduct incident investigations and critically review contractor's incident investigation reports.
  • Prepare monthly H&S report including reporting against H&S performance indicators
  • Review contractor SWMS and site specific HSE Management Plan

About You:

To be successful in this role, you will have experience with the application of HSE management plans and HSE management systems for construction sites and have managed contractors to meet and/or exceed safety requirements. You will have knowledge and understanding of the requirements of a principal contractor and the asset owner's HSE responsibilities and have the ability to instil a safety first mindset to others.

You must have qualifications in WHS (Cert IV), be first aid trained and either have or be willing to attain a construction white card.
