Nova Systems are the only wholly Australian owned Major Service Providers (MSPs) supporting Defence's Capability, Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG).

We provide Australian sovereign capability to the Guided Weapons and Explosive Ordnance Delivery Division (GWEODD) who look after the acquisition and sustainment of a broad range of Explosive Ordnance (EO) capabilities for the Australian Defence Force.

GWEODD currently manages 38 acquisition projects and sustains over 1000 munition types (including 35 types of complex guided weapons).

With the government announcements around increasing Sovereign Capability in Defence, we have opportunities for enthusiastic project managers to join our expanding team working to support GWEODD.


About the role:


Here at Nova, we are a Major Service Provider (MSP) to the Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG) within the Australian Department of Defence.

We are committed to growing the capacity of our Defence Organisations.


As a result, we have several permanent opportunities for people to work as
Project Support Officers in our
Canberra, Melbourne, and
Sydney operations.

You will be supporting a range of different projects within the Explosive Munitions Branch.

Your typical day could look like:

  • Creating Project Portfolio Management (PPM) artefacts in the company ERP software, including project budgets, project plans, project forecast, work breakdown structures and resource planning
  • Facilitating end of period business processes as they relate to project management
  • Assisting with customer invoicing, checking all project related timesheets and expenses, and raising purchase orders.
  • Ensuring project documentation is stored appropriately
  • Preparing, analysing and distributing project, financial and resource reports
  • Liaising with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders

What we would like from you:

  • Australian Citizen with an NV1 security clearance or higher
  • Previous experience in a similar role within a project environment
  • Experience with Microsoft Project (or similar), the MS Office Suite and PDF software
  • Working knowledge of Professional Services Automation/an ERP system (Oracle desirable)
  • Experience working with other project management tools, SharePoint and/or databases
  • Strong financial acumen and financial reporting experience (desirable)
  • Strong teamwork, prioritisation, time management, and written and verbal communication skills
