Boeing Defence Australia (BDA) is now recruiting for an experienced military or civil aircrew member to join our Airpower Teaming System (ATS) MQ-28A Ghost Bat Program.

The Opportunity
The Boeing MQ-28A is a globally-significant program that will deliver a disruptive advantage in airborne missions.

Developed in partnership with the Royal Australian Air Force, the MQ-28A Ghost Bat is the first military combat aircraft to be designed, manufactured and assembled in Australia in 50 years.

Enabled by autonomous capabilities, the aircraft will fly alongside other platforms to team with existing crewed and uncrewed assets.
BDA is looking for an experienced aircrew operations specialist to join our MQ-28A Ghost Bat Program.

The Operations Support position will report to the MQ-28A Support Segment Operating System Support Lead and be responsible for leading the Operating Support elements of the MQ-28A Program.

The successful applicant will be responsible for assisting in planning and executing the ATS Operating Support Segment scope of work and associated deliverables.

This role will be located in the RAAF Amberley Region.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop a Scope of Work in order to stand up the Operations Cell for the ATS program
  • Coordinate provision of operating services for daily MQ28A flying operations
  • Developing and implementing MQ28A mission coordination and control (e.g. white/blue/red force mission management)
  • Operational orders, instructions, publications development for MQ28A operations.
  • Implementing and maintaining Currency Management Systems for flying operations
  • Maintain aircrew qualifications and currency requirements in accordance with MQ28A Flight SOP
  • Be involved in preflight flight/mission planning and postflight debriefing activitie
  • Assist the OPS Support Lead as required for BDA and MQ28A related activitie
  • Comply with the WHSrelated policy to ensure a safe workplac
  • Be aware of, and demonstrate a commitment to, the principles of equal opportunity in the workplac
  • Applicants must be able to obtain a relevant CASA flight medical for Operator responsibilities
  • Applicants must be Australian Citizens to meet Defence security requirements (Negative Vetting (NV) 1 Security Clearance).
Experience/Qualifications
Aircrew with the right attributes to work within a leading-edge environment that is inventing the future. You are a highly competent operator within your field, an innovator, a strong collaborator and a problem solver. Are you up for the challenge?

Essential Criteria:

  • Current CASA Class 1 Medical (or military equivalent) and ability to maintain the requirements of this medical certificate
  • Civilian Pilots Licence (CPL) or military equivalent
  • Pass in Instrument Rating Exam (IREX)
  • OPS planning and execution experience
  • Clear and effective English written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrate the ability to work autonomously as well as in a team
  • Must be able to travel domestically and internationally
  • Intermediate to advanced level of MS Office skills
  • Be able to obtain and maintain a minimum NV1 Defence security clearance

Desirable Criteria:

  • Military total flying hours 1000+
  • Military Operational Flying experience
  • Multicrew aircraft experience
  • UAS experience
  • High End Exercise (Red Flag etc) experience

Physical Requirements
Boeing Defence Australia specific site positions will have physical requirements which are applicable. Physical requirements are outlined by the recruitment manager in consultation with the Environment Health & Safety Department.

A formal assessment of the physical requirements will need to be completed through the Environment Health & Safety Department for specific roles which would then reflect into the position description.
