About the role


We currently have an open term opportunity for a Portfolio Manager to join our Liquid Markets Group (LMG) based in Brisbane.

This exciting new opportunity has come about due to an internal promotion and mobility within the team.


Within LMG, the Multi-Asset Solutions team is a market leader in derivatives overlay management, bolstering the investment opportunities of our clients and supporting their objectives in the most effective and efficient way.


Reporting to the Head of Multi-Asset Solutions, the Portfolio Manager will support management of derivative overlay strategies across all liquid asset classes, including equities, fixed income, currency, credit, inflation and commodities markets.

The key accountabilities are not limited to but include:

  • Support research and innovation in generating new derivatives-based investment solutions that complement institutional investor objectives of enhancing return, mitigating risk or minimising costs.
  • Generate detailed modelling and clearly articulate the attributes for new trade ideas in the (active) absolute return investment capability.
  • Collaborate and contribute towards the development and execution of investment ideas across all liquid market's asset classes.
  • Support the delivery of client communications that are accurate, timely, insightful, and thoughtprovoking for clients.
  • Timely and informative production of client reporting/adhoc client enquiries, with delivery of best inclass client presentations and marketing material.
  • Produce research and insights that are accurate, timely and insightful, and assist clients to make investment decisions.
  • Contribute to specified Multi-Asset Solutions research and risk management projects that contribute to the team's continuous learning and ongoing evolution.
  • Establish close working relationships with relevant QIC investment teams, fostering collaboration in research and decision making.
  • Build strong relationships with Australian counterparties and internationally to source market information relevant to the LMG investment process.

About you
You will be a highly organised and motivated individual who demonstrates strong quantitative and analytical skills

You will also have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in relevant field (Business, Economics, Econometrics, and/or Finance).
  • Exposure to global derivatives markets, with an indepth knowledge of major derivative markets and instruments
  • Understanding of what drives global markets, at both the macro and micro levels.
  • Prior demonstrated experience within financial markets within the investment banking and/or funds management industry.
  • Ability to accurately and effectively explain complex investment ideas and strategies to clients and key stakeholders.
  • Initiative, planning and time management skills with the ability to manage complex and competing priorities to achieve objectives in tight timeframes and amid changing requirements.
