About the role

This position is situated within MacKillop Family Services South West Emergency Care for Children (SWECC) Program. This program is responsible for providing in-home practical support and childcare services to families in crisis in locations across the South West of Western Australia.

The Family Support Worker provides home-based emergency care to children within the family and provides practical supports to families in crisis.

Working under the direction of the Team Leader to provide regular in-home, practical and emotional support to families in crisis.

This is a Casual opportunity based across the South West Region WA within our South West Emergency Care for Children (SWECC) Program. The position reports to the SWECC Team Leader.

Key Selection Criteria:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience working with at vulnerable and risk families and children to address practical issues within a home, including the emergency care of children.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • A knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values and an awareness of the current issues faced by Aboriginal children, young people and their families.
  • Tertiary or TAFE qualifications in Community Services, Child Care or a related discipline.

You must have a:

  • Valid and current Driver's Licence;
  • Satisfactory Criminal History Check (paid for by MacKillop);
  • Valid Employee Working with Children Check;
  • Valid and current NDIS Workers Screening Check (for risk assessed / client facing roles). MacKillop can assist successful candidates with their application.
