We work with children, adults, and their families, providing a holistic approach to hearing services for newborns through to people over 90 years old, and helping children who are blind or have low vision to develop the right skills, mobility, and independence to confidently explore their world.

We are currently creating a world-leading centre for innovation on-site at Macquarie University that represents a new era for hearing and vision loss.

This nationally significant social infrastructure project will be a place to nurture, trial and share new ideas and form new partnerships that will drive better outcomes for people who are deaf, hard of hearing, blind or have low vision.


The Role
NextSense has an exciting opportunity for a Child Care Worker to join our team at North Rocks. This is a part-time role, working 31.25 hours per week and reports directly to Head of Early Years.

You'll make a difference in this role by:

  • Supporting the delivery of a range of individual and small group educational programs to meet the individual needs of all children.
  • Assisting to implement daily routines and with ensuring a safe, healthy and clean indoor and outdoor environment for children.
  • Preparing and maintaining all records, reports and documents as required.
  • Supporting the work of the teachers to ensure high quality outcomes for the children who have a sensory disability.
  • Communicating effectively with other members of the service, and NextSense together with children, families, visitors and other professionals.

Desired Skills and Experience:

To be successful in this role you'll need to demonstrate you meet the following selection criteria.

  • Previous experience in a similar position.
  • Actively working towards the AQF Certificate III in Children's Services qualification from engagement, if not already attained.
  • Skills in using Auslan or willingness to learn.
  • Effective written and verbal communication.
  • Commitment to high quality teamwork.
  • Good team member with excellent communication skills.
  • Outcomes focused.
  • Collaborative and consultative.
  • Hold a current First aid certificate, working with children's check, and criminal record check
