Three exciting opportunities for motivated individuals passionate about aquaculture to join our Southern Hatcheries.

Role Overview:

The Hatchery Technician plays a crucial role in supporting Hatchery operations and ensuring the well-being of our fish to a high standard. As a key member of a small, hands-on team, you will:

  • Carry out regular checks and provide feedback to the site manager on any necessary adjustments to maintain optimal fish welfare.
  • Conduct routine monitoring of water quality systems and manage water samples.
  • Flush water systems and clean tanks effectively.
  • Feed fish, perform weight checks, and sample fish to assess performance and health.

This is a full-time position with a potential requirement for overnight shifts.

Opportunities Available:

  • Whale Point Hatchery – Monday to Friday schedule.
  • Whale Point Hatchery – Rotation of 7 days on, 7 days off.
  • Lonnavale Hatchery – Rotation of 7 days on, 7 days off.

Desired Skills and Qualities:

  • Ideally, you possess hands-on fish husbandry experience coupled with an Aquaculture-related qualification or basic knowledge of fish biology and water chemistry.
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm, self-motivation, and a positive mindset, adaptable to various working conditions.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to work well independently and collaboratively in a small team.
  • Able to meet the physical demands of the role safely.
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to process enhancements.
