Experienced Geologist or Geotechnical Engineer

Role Overview

We currently have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Geologist or Geotechnical Engineer to join our team at the Brisbane head office. This is a full-time position based in Brisbane, with the option for partial remote work later on.

Our team consists of a mix of structural, civil, environmental, and earth science professionals who assist clients locally and nationally. We collaborate closely with our laboratory and drilling departments to provide top-notch geotechnical support across various projects, from initial planning to construction. Our clientele includes a diverse range of mining, infrastructure, and water supply entities.

As part of this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Managing and overseeing large-scale site investigations for significant energy projects.
  • Guiding and supporting junior team members while upholding high reporting standards.
  • Contributing to the expansion of our geotechnical engineering services in Brisbane by engaging in a wide array of projects and tasks.
  • Securing and delivering geotechnical services to both internal and external clients, encompassing strategy development, site assessments, design, construction oversight, operational guidance, and client consultations.
  • Producing precise technical work with a strong business focus.
  • Establishing and maintaining robust relationships with internal and external clients.
Essential Skills

To excel in this role, you should have:

  • Proven experience in specifying, managing, and reporting on geotechnical site investigations, including hands-on fieldwork.
  • A degree in civil engineering or earth sciences with a focus on engineering geology or geotechnical engineering.
  • At least 3 years of relevant consulting experience in design and construction site investigations. Membership in a professional body, progressing towards recognition as a professional engineer or geologist (RPEQ or PEngGeo).
  • The ability to work effectively within a growing regional team.
  • Preferably, experience (though not mandatory) in subsurface modeling software such as Leapfrog or Surfer.
  • Demonstrable proficiency in spatial mapping tools, section creation software, and reporting platforms like gINT and GeoLogismiki.
  • Demonstrated use of engineering geology or geotechnical analytical software like Slope W or Plaxis.
  • Experience in field mapping, inspections, and geohazard assessments for large infrastructure projects such as dams.
  • A comprehensive understanding of geotechnical principles.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Willingness and ability to travel regionally.
  • An unrestricted Australian driver's license.
