A little bit about us

The Integrated Services Branch focuses on a number of core services and projects, including the Future Workplaces Canberra Project, Hire2Retire, to improve processes, delivery and user experience across the end-to-end employee lifecycle; streamlining Corporate Service's engagement with Divisional Support teams; and lifting the Department's service offering by embedding corporate liaison staff in State/Territory office hub locations.

It also includes the Project Support Office; and manages the Department's property and accommodation footprint, and Protective Security Services.

The opportunity we have available

The Property Section is responsible for the development and delivery of accommodation strategies, projects and day-to-day management of services and leasing across the department's property portfolio.

We are seeking to fill the role of Assistant Director for Property Leasing.

What will you do?
Reporting to the Director, Property the Assistant Director, Leasing will be responsible for:

  • Managing a small team responsible for leasing;
  • Preparing complex and/or sensitive correspondence and corporate documentation, reports, submissions and briefing papers to Senior Executive;
  • Undertaking risk assessments and risk management activities for property leasing;
  • Administering and leading delivery of performance measures against service level agreements and undertake business reporting as required;
  • Contributing to the efficient and effective use of team resources to deliver team outcomes;
  • Developing and maintaining a range of internal and external stakeholder relationships; and
  • Providing high level assistance to the Director, Property.

Who are we looking for?

  • Provide expert advice on property and leasing related matters, ensuring compliance with regulatory and Whole of Government property related policies and frameworks;
  • Work with a level of independence, under broad direction, with a concurrent need to resolve issues and engage and collaborate with key stakeholders to deliver quality outcomes, whilst considering wider agency implications when making decisions;
  • Manage a small team of staff whilst exercising autonomy and initiative in team management and allocation of resources, building team capability through coaching, providing performance feedback and encouraging career development;
  • Consider and effectively manage competing priorities and strategic directions when achieving team planning and delivering outcomes in line with agency goals and objectives; and
  • Negotiate with customers and stakeholders to resolve complex, sensitive or difficult issues and ensure positive outcomes whilst also managing expectations.
