About the role:


As a successful applicant, you will be an integral team member within the Financial Accounting & Compliance Branch (FACB) in providing high quality accounting and financial services across the organisation.

The primary purpose of this role is to assist in the delivery of taxation compliance and reporting obligations including the completion and lodgement of the Fringe Benefit Tax (FBT) return, monthly business activity statement (BAS), and monthly payroll tax returns with the State Revenue Office (SRO).

The position is also responsible to provide technical taxation advice to various areas within Victoria Police, managing documentation around various taxation procedures.

The position will also provide support for the monthly financial reporting processes, and audit enquiries.
The Finance Officer reports to the Manager-Tax, Insurance & Corporate Governance.
Victoria Police is a contemporary and agile workplace and supports flexible working arrangements.

Your duties will include:

  • Contribute to the completion and lodgement of the FBT return, monthly BAS, and monthly payroll tax returns.
  • Undertake quarterly reviews of FBT data, monthly review of BAS transactions and assist with the yearly taxation compliance certification.
  • Assist with the Lodgement of the Taxable Payments Annual Report (TPAR) with the ATO.
  • Provide taxation advice (GST, FBT) to the various internal stakeholders.
  • Undertake quarterly reviews of FBT data, and monthly review of BAS transactions and assist with the yearly taxation compliance certification review.
  • Assist in maintaining departmental policies which relate to taxation and manage documentation around business processes, standards and procedures.
  • Build relationships with peers and senior internal and external stakeholders in order to meet timelines for delivery of taxation compliance.
  • Assist the Financial Accounting team with the yearend annual financial statements reporting process.
As the successful applicant, you will have

  • Degree in finance, accounting or commerce with relevant taxation skills and experience
  • Well developed IT skills, in particular Microsoft Excel

Requirements and relevant information:

  • One (1) x fulltime, ongoing position available.
  • This position is located at Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands, but may be required to work at other locations (including working from home) if required.
