(Job Summary)

This Analyst will take the lead in covering a ratings portfolio for Moody's corporate finance division in Australia and New Zealand. As the primary analyst, this individual will conduct thorough qualitative and quantitative analyses to evaluate the creditworthiness of various entities and debt instruments, ensuring rating accuracy through ongoing monitoring. Managing relationships internally and externally, including at senior levels, is a key aspect of this role. Additionally, the analyst will produce insightful research on individual companies and broader sector themes, coupled with regional outreach initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary analyst, performing initial and ongoing credit analyses on a dedicated portfolio of corporate entities in Australia and New Zealand.
  • Analyze financial statements, economic/market data, bond indentures, and other legal documents intensively.
  • Monitor the portfolio actively and suggest rating changes promptly.
  • Present a clear rating rationale at rating committee meetings, demonstrating sound judgment.
  • Create compelling research reports on individual companies and industry sectors, balancing this with daily transaction and surveillance activities.
  • Cultivate relationships with senior corporate executives, investors, and intermediaries based on industry and topical research.
  • Expand Moody's network through investor and intermediary engagement, including media interactions and conference participation.
  • Lead issuer meetings, effectively presenting key rating factors and facilitating meaningful discussions on credit topics.
  • Deliver comprehensive presentations in rating committees and internal analytical meetings.
  • Mentor junior analysts and support associates.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate in finance, banking, economics, or related field with a preference for postgraduate qualifications. Professional certifications like CIMA, ACCA, or CFA would be advantageous.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant analytical experience, preferably in a credit role within a financial institution.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication abilities, with prior research writing experience being a plus.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities within deadlines.
  • Comfortable in a collaborative, learning-oriented environment.
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
