UGL's Manufacturing & Maintenance business are searching for a high performing Section Leader / Workshop Leading Hand to join their Locomotive & Heavy Mining Equipment (OHV) component overhaul team. This position will be offered as a permanent full-time opportunity with occasional overtime & weekend work as required.

Reporting to the Service Delivery Manager, the purpose of this role is to provide leadership and manage the daily production requirements of a workshop section, to exceed UGL and the customers' expectations of safety, quality and deliveries.

The role has future career pathways into Production and Workshop Management.

About your role

As the Section Leader / Workshop Leading Hand, your role will provide high quality technical maintenance, repair and/or service and assists the Service Delivery Manager in the coordination of projects.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Allocate tasks to team members
  • Conduct high quality planned and corrective maintenance, repair and/or service
  • Complete high quality defect investigation and repairs
  • Keep the Service Delivery Manager properly informed of activities and task progress
  • Develop documentation specific for work package and maintain registers


About you

You will have extensive experience working in a similar leadership role, within a heavy industrial or workshop environment.

Skills & Experience:

  • Relevant Trade Qualification (Electrical preferred)
  • Demonstrated Supervisory experience (essential)
  • Supportive attitude regarding health, safety & quality
  • Pride and high standards for maintenance in a workshop environment
  • Excellent communication skills & willingness to learn, teach & mentor others
