About the role


We have a rare role within our Insurance first line, for a Compliance Advisor here in the Experience and Optimisation team at RACQ Insurance.

This is a 12-month contract, with a genuine possibility for extension or permanency, for a Compliance and Risk professional to make their mark within a well-known and trusted organisation.

Reporting to the Manager Risk and Resilience, your primary focus will be to uplift, evolve and develop risk and compliance maturity across our operational insurance divisions.

Your primary focus will be to advocate for and uplift compliance, raise awareness and assist divisions in understanding their compliance obligations.


Your key duties will be to:

  • Assist Insurance leaders with successful implementation of Group policies, processes and compliance tools focusing on operational incidents and prioritisation of treatment actions
  • Review and update Operational Compliance Plans (OCPs) on a continuous basis considering trends in compliance incidents
  • Work closely with second line compliance to stay abreast of new regulatory requirements or changes to existing compliance obligations, and
  • Drive continuous improvement of compliance decision making, reporting and monitoring.

About you


We're looking for an experienced compliance SME, someone who is familiar with executive level stakeholder management that can influence and achieve outcomes.

As a Business Advisor, you will be familiar with working within a complex operational environment and not afraid to get hands-on with regards to processes and frameworks.


Ideally you will have:

  • A university degree in a relevant area
  • 35 years relevant experience within a risk, compliance, audit or governance role, preferably in the insurance sector
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills including establishing rapport and influencing viewpoints
  • Expert ability to analyse problems to uncover hidden insights, and
  • A strong understanding of Insurance Compliance obligations, General insurance Code of Practice and other legislative frameworks.
