REQUIREMENT FOR SPONSORSHIP OBLIGATIONS:

_HORSE TRAINER/EDUCATOR_:

  • A Horse Trainer working for Snowden Racing will during the course of their employment will need to undertake the following duties:_
- _Training (educating) horses on the ground to be handled in all situations including for the vet and farrier._
- _Training (educating) and riding thoroughbred horses to become accustomed to being ridden at the track, both slow and fast work._
- _Discussing with the race horse trainer each horse's performance and any concerns with the fitness or training of the horse after each ride._
- _Horse Grooming and presentation._
- _Prepare dietary requirements of horses. _
- _Veterinary treatment to recent wounds and on-going rehabilitation of more severe injuries. _
- _Accompanying horses to the races and barrier trials._
- _Assisting the race horse trainer to find and schedule races with conditions that match the ability of the individual horses._
- _Proven ability to train and educate young and older horses._
- _Oral and written communication skills of a level to take instructions and provide information to other staff and owners._
- _Sound knowledge of health and safety obligations and demonstrated skills in safe operation of equipment relevant to the training and preparation of racehorses on riding pace/timed work and jump outs._
- _Manage a small team of horses and staff under the direction of the head foreperson._

SKILLS:

  • Qualifications are an advantage but not essential but at least three years of relevant experience in horse training/management is essential. The position is full time working 38 hours per week._
  • The occupation to be advertised is that of a Horse Trainer/Educator with a salary bandwidth of _
    _$60,000.00__ depending on experience._
