The Change Lead is a leadership position within the UNSW IT unit. This role will provide strategic and operational change leadership across the University in the adoption of new technology solutions.

This role will support a fundamental shift in enhancing the digital landscape of the university and enable agility and speed in technology development that we will leverage to improve the student and staff experience.

The role will lead the development of a change management strategy and deliverables and mobilise resources required for the effective implementation of the technology delivery projects.

This will include change impact assessments, change management strategies and plans and benefits realisation tracking.

It is essential this role works closely with the project teams and UNSW IT leadership teams, as well as key UNSW stakeholders to promote effective change leadership and adoption.

The role reports to the Director Change and Engagement and may have direct reports in change management, change communications and training.


Accountabilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of change management strategies and implementation plans within a UNSW change management framework.
  • Develop high quality change management deliverables: communications plans, stakeholder management, risk mitigation plans, training, resistance management plans, and ensure change execution activities are delivered within set timeframes.
  • Identify, analyse and prepare risk mitigation tactics and deliver activities to minimise risks and anticipated resistance.
  • Provide leadership, coaching and strategic direction to leaders and stakeholders to increase their change management capabilities.
  • Provide strategic advice and support on organisational design and definition of roles and responsibilities in support of the transition to businessasusual operations.
  • Oversee the evaluation of business readiness (staff and students) including ensuring adequate training and guidance has been provided prior to the release of new features.
  • Lead the definition and development of success metrics for the change process, implementation, monitoring, ongoing review and improvement and reporting on change progress.
  • Align with and actively demonstrate the UNSW Values in Action: Our Behaviours and the UNSW Code of Conduct.
  • Ensure hazards and risks psychosocial and physical are identified and controlled for tasks, projects, and activities that pose a health and safety risk within your area of responsibility.

Skills and Experience:

  • Solid experience in delivering effective change management in large scale programs, including changes to people, structures, technology, process, and operations.
  • Effective leadership, interpersonal and communication skills, and importantly, the ability to influence stakeholders and lead of teams of change professionals.
  • Capacity to plan to achieve priority outcomes and respond flexibly to changing and at times ambiguous environments
  • Strong analytical and proven ability to quickly understand complex business and systems and provide a suited solution for clients.
  • Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills with proven ability to write concisely and persuasively to a wide range of audiences, in particular to governance committees.
  • High level organisational skills with the ability to deal with multiple tasks, establish priorities and meet strict and/or tight deadlines.
  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSW's aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of health & safety (psychosocial and physical) responsibility
