Job Title: Senior Estimator – progressing to Estimating Manager

Location: Melbourne

Salary: $220K package

Our client is a leading national fit out & interior construction specialist with an incredible track record of delivering complex and challenging bespoke interior projects throughout Australia.

With a strong leadership team, a backbone of highly talented people; this company is a business that has built its reputation through hard work, consistency and the end quality of their product.

Working with repeat, blue-chip clients throughout Australia, this business is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join the team and play a key role in the direction and front-end strategy of the business alongside the Directors.

On offer includes an opportunity to build upon the success of the current estimating team whilst offering you opportunity to transition into the Estimating Manager role that is aligned with the natural and projected growth of this incredible business.

Company Description

Specialization in Fitout and Refurbishment: Our client's primary focus lies in large fitout and interior projects; the typical range of projects will vary from $5M refurbishment up to a $25M fit out development. Our client excels at transforming spaces to meet our clients' unique needs and specifications.

Versatility Across Multiple Sectors:Our client caters to a broad spectrum of property sectors including Commercial,Health, Education, Hospitality, and Retail.This breadth of experience allows this business to adapt to the specific requirements and nuances of each sector, ensuring that their projects are tailored to meet the highest standards of quality and functionality.

The Role

  • Prepare comprehensive cost estimates, including labour, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs, for projects from initial calculations to final figures.
  • Use advanced estimating software to enhance accuracy and efficiency in preparing bids.
  • Evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids, ensuring they meet project specifications and budget requirements.
  • Lead and develop the estimating team, providing guidance and oversight to junior estimators and support staff.
  • Assess risk factors associated with projects, offering insights and strategies to mitigate potential cost overruns.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, pricing, and regulatory changes that could affect cost estimates.
  • Prepare and present bid packages and cost analyses to senior management and potential clients.
  • Negotiate contracts and terms with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Conduct post-project analysis to compare estimated costs to actual expenses, identifying areas for process improvement.
  • Foster relationships with key industry partners, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing and service quality.

What do you need?

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Proven track record of 5+ years as a Quantity Surveyor
  • Experience with Fitout & Refurb projects or commercial building sector
  • Proficiency with Estimating software such as Cubit or CostX
