We are seeking a Associate Lecturer / Lecturer in Ecology to join School of Biology and Environmental Science, Faculty of Science, Academic Division.

The School of Biology and Environmental Science is seeking a suitably qualified academic with experience and expertise in Ecology with a strong record of and passion for undertaking field-based and experimental teaching and research, relative to opportunity.The successful candidate will contribute to undergraduate teaching, primarily in first year units within QUT's Science Degrees (Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Science Advanced) and will be passionate about teaching and dedicated to creating innovative curriculum and pedagogy that aims to inspire future graduates and equip them to build meaningful scientific careers. The successful candidate will deliver pedagogy that supports collaborative learning environments, where they will engage effectively with students and colleagues from diverse backgrounds. The successful candidate must also be dedicated to ongoing development of a curriculum that is authentic, applied and future-focussed, and based on co-design principles and discipline depth. The curriculum should also produce graduates that have demonstrated cross-cultural intelligence and professional integrity.

What you need to succeed

  1. Completion of a doctoral qualification in a relevant ecology discipline and demonstrated professional experience.
  2. Demonstrated commitment to teaching, with recent relevant experience supervising students in an academic and field setting.
  3. Demonstrated experience in research/scholarship which may be evidenced by publications and/or success in attracting research funding.
  4. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, as well as proven ability to use initiative, and to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team to deliver outcomes.
  5. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability and a commitment to creating an inclusive teaching, learning and research environment.
