About the Company:
A leading metal recycling company who play a crucial role in reducing the environmental impact of metal waste.
They provide local governments and businesses throughout Victoria the opportunity to recycle metal waste and help keep Victoria clean and green They are on the lookout for a General Manager to join their growing business.
About the Role:
As the General Manager, you will be responsible for all business operations of the metals recycling facility, provide leadership to all yard staff and build lasting, growth-oriented customer relationships in the region.
Duties:
- Directs supervisors and staff to operate the facility.
- Works with Regional Manager and VP, Operations to set annual budget for the yard, considering equipment condition; environmental necessities; operational needs; business growth.
- Develops lifelong customer and partner relationships in the region leading to increased revenue and margins for the region
- Oversees environmental, health & safety programs and processes to create a safe environment for all employees, customers, and visitors
- Assists in the development of facility standards operating procedures
- Manages all facility human resources processes including training and performance management.
- Identifies and implements continuous improvement opportunities.
- Collaborate with Auto Value Stream and Commercial personnel to price, secure scrap, and shipping quality requirements to the ingot demand signal in support of growing our auto sales and closed loop recycling.
- Development and implementation of key reporting, analyses, tools, and metrics which will provide greater the business with understanding of scrap benefits, opportunities, and risks
- Provide support for Global, Regional, and local Plant initiatives sponsored by operating and financial management.
Skills & Experience:
- Experience gained working in a scrap yard, waste management centre, mining, construction or similar high risk environment is sought
- 5+ years previous experience of all aspects of operations/distribution management of a satellite business location, including people management.
- 3+ years' experience running a profit centreoriented business model.
- Proven business growth acumen.
- Experienced in implementing continuous improvement and quality assessment programs.
- Comfortable with using MS Office suite and capable of working with computer software programs.
- Ability to develop and build relationships (including sales) both internally and externally to the organisation.
- Excellent collaborator and problem solver.
