Air Mobility Officer

As an Air Mobility Officer, you will join the Air Force through the Officer Aviation - Mission Aircrew pathway. During your training at RAAF Base East Sale, you would have been selected for Air Mobility Officer based on your preference, performance during training and availability of positions.

After you complete your training at RAAF Base East Sale, you will specialise as an Air Mobility Officer at No 33 Squadron at RAAF Base Amberley.

As an Air Mobility Officer, your primary airborne role will be to refuel aircraft mid-air by 'flying' the refuelling boom on your KC30A Multi-role Tanker Transport (MRTT) aircraft into the refuelling receptacle of other aircraft that are flying in formation only metres away.

You will be directly contributing to operations by keeping fighters, airborne early warning and control aircraft and surveillance and response aircraft on task longer. While on operations, you will not just be refuelling Australian aircraft, but also aircraft from all of Australia's coalition partners and allies.

Air Mobility Officers are also involved in the planning and execution of combat airlift or humanitarian operations that could occur anywhere within Australia or around the world.
