Tennis ACT is a member based, not-for-profit organisation charged with growing, developing and promoting Tennis throughout the ACT and immediate region.

It is an exciting time to step into this leadership role as the groundwork has been laid and there is great momentum and opportunity to continue to grow tennis participation in the region.

About the role


The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Tennis ACT is responsible for advancing the interests of tennis throughout the ACT & Region.

The role will be responsible for driving the strategic outcomes and operational aspects of the business, is accountable to the Board of Tennis ACT and will take responsibility for the implementation of an integrated strategic plan.

This role will initially be a three year contract.

In this role you will;

  • Develop and implement the Tennis ACT Strategic Plan
  • Oversee the daytoday management of the organisation
  • Lead a highperforming team and maintain a strong culture
  • Strengthen the profile, reputation, business and community outcomes of tennis in the ACT and region
  • Engage with key stakeholders and staff to effectively execute the strategic outcomes for the sport, annually reviewing and refining
  • Drive national programs at a state/territory level and maximise the facility assets in Canberra
About you

What you will bring to the role:

  • Tertiary qualifications at a post graduate level (preferred) in a related area of management
  • Significant relevant experience in the management of diverse teams and stakeholders within challenging and high pressure environments
  • Welldeveloped strategic planning and implementation and financial management skills
  • Proven ability to successfully work with a volunteer board
  • An ability to communicate effectively, network successfully and work collaboratively with a diverse and complex range of stakeholders including Government Ministers
  • Ability to advocate on behalf of the sport with great influencing and negotiation skills
  • Experience building, managing and leading successful high performing teams
  • An understanding of the workings and demands of a sports/membership based organisation (desirable) as well as businesses operating in the Not for Profit sector
  • You must hold (or be willing to obtain) a current Police Check and Working with Vulnerable People Check.
