Brief Summary of School/Division
The role of research assistant will work with the Maridulu Budyari Gumal (SPHERE) Cancer Clinical Academic Group (CAG).
Maridulu Budyari Gumal is an academic health partnership which spans multiple Universities, Medical Research Institutes and Local Health Districts across South East and South West Sydney.
The Cancer CAG is funded by a Cancer Institute NSW Research Capacity Grant which is focused on developing and building research capacity across the network.
Brief Summary of the Role
The Research Assistant will work with two Senior Research Fellows within the strategic area of focus, Living Better With and After Cancer.
Projects will span paediatric to adult oncology within the disciplines of health, especially psychology and nutrition and dietetics.
Current areas of focus include use of real time health data to improve clinical outcomes through dashboard visualisation, understanding patient journeys, integration of patient reported outcomes into models of care.
Responsibilities include
- Undertaking data collection at multiple sites across South East and South West Sydney Local Health Districts
- Interviewing research participants and holding focus groups
- Working with research and health professionals (medicine, nursing and allied health)
- Preparation of reports for internal and external stakeholders
- Support review of scientific literature and data analysis
- Supports preparation of reports, presentations and grants
Desirable experience and skills
- Tertiary qualifications in appropriate discipline and/or relevant experience in related field
- Preparation of scientific literature reviews
- Focus group or interview skills with patient populations and health care professions
- Data management of quantitative and qualitative data using appropriate software programs
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to problem solve, use initiative and prioritise workload.
