Greater Sydney Parklands (GSP) is a city-wide agency created to become Sydney's leading urban parks advocate.

In partnership with communities and governments, it will plan for and expand great open spaces and parklands and champion the NSW Government's new 50 Year Vision for Sydney's Open Space and Parklands.


Greater Sydney Parklands currently brings together five iconic parks across Sydney: Centennial Parklands, Parramatta Park, Western Sydney Parklands, Callan Park and Fernhill Estate.


Made up of collaborative, creative and committed people, Greater Sydney Parklands is looking for an Arborist to join our Centennial Parklands Arboriculture Team.

The team manages a significant and diverse collection of over 16,000 trees in Centennial Park, Moore Park and Queen's Park.

The role undertakes all forms of tree maintenance and care services, daily plant and equipment operation and maintenance and tree database upkeep.

The role also supervises arboriculture works and contractors as required by planned and reactive work programs to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of tree services and the safety of staff and the public in the iconic Centennial Parklands.


Centennial Parklands encompasses some of the most historically and socially significant trees and urban park spaces in Australia and with more than 30 million visits per year is one of the world's leading public parklands.

About You


A Certificate III in Arboriculture or equivalent progression to the qualification with experience in a wide range of arboriculture and horticultural maintenance and services, including the use of associated plant and equipment is essential to this role.

Essential Requirements

  • Certificate III in Arboriculture or equivalent progression to the qualification with experience in a wide range of arboriculture and horticultural maintenance and services, including the use of associated plant and equipment.
  • Chainsaw certificate level I or equivalent experience in chainsaw operation and maintenance
  • Experience with tree climbing and associated tree maintenance tasks including tree removal
  • Experience with operating and maintaining a wood chipper
  • Experience with operating and maintaining an Elevated Work Platform under 11m or equivalent
  • Current MR driver's licence with the ability to drive manual vehicles and willingness to undertake fieldwork for extended periods of time and have the ability to lift and carry a minimum 15 kilos.
  • Ability to work outside of normal working hours and on weekends if required.
