An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced and qualified Waste Education Officer at Council commencing as soon as possible and working in a job share position for three days per week until 22 December 2023.
This role is responsible for the delivery of innovative behaviour change programs and waste education to residents, schools and community groups across the shire.
This position plays an important role in planning, preparing and implementing waste education projects and programs to support Council's Waste Management Strategy, focusing on behavioural change, waste minimisation, resource recovery and litter reduction.
The position would ideally suit applicants with a degree or diploma in Environmental Science/Waste Management Education, or related discipline, together with some years of relevant waste industry experience, or relevant industry experience with lesser qualifications.
You will have demonstrated understanding and experience in behavioural change programs, waste education campaigns, community engagement and project management as well as possessing well-developed written and oral communication skills to successfully deliver presentations and projects.
A good understanding of key environmental sustainability issues, such as waste avoidance and minimisation, resource recovery, recycling, and waste processing will also be an advantage.
