Role Purpose
The Director of Finance plays a crucial role in overseeing the financial systems and administrative services of Home Instead Australia. They are responsible for delivering quality financial insights to the Group Chief Financial Officer and Country CEO by designing and implementing efficient financial systems.
Key accountabilities include: (but are not limited to)
- Strategically manage finances to optimize costs and revenue, as well as plan and execute financial initiatives.
- Lead all finance activities, including business planning, budgeting, forecasting, and negotiations.
- Ensure effective cash flow management and provide accurate and timely financial data for decision-making.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and drive efficiency through redesigning and digitizing processes.
- Centralize functions as needed to enhance operational efficiency and establish shared services.
- Allocate capital based on established plans and implement processes for capital evaluation and control.
- Set and monitor financial benchmarks and performance standards, ensuring transparent financial management.
- Manage financial risk exposure and support strategic initiatives such as mergers, acquisitions, and revenue growth.
- Lead major commercial projects and navigate complex commercial transactions.
Required Experience and qualifications:
Candidates should hold relevant educational qualifications and possess extensive professional experience. Essential credentials include a postgraduate degree in management or related fields, alongside a commerce or accounting tertiary qualification. Additionally, candidates must have a Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification or equivalent. This educational background provides a solid foundation in financial principles necessary for the role.
Candidates need to demonstrate a wealth of experience in specialized financial functions, particularly in areas like mergers and acquisitions, post-M&A integration, and audits. Proficiency in International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) is essential, along with expertise in establishing shared financial services and implementing process automation. A strong background in scaling financial software and consolidating financial statements is also required.
Proven executive leadership skills are crucial. Candidates must showcase a history of effectively managing financial divisions with a focus on long-term business sustainability and growth. This includes overseeing fiscal reporting activities such as revenue/expense reports, balance sheets, and budget development and monitoring. The ability to communicate financial insights and strategies to Executive Leadership Teams and Boards is essential for driving strategic decision-making.
