Job description


Customer Technology is responsible for the design and engineering of world-leading technology experiences for our insurance customers, making them safer.

Customer Technology oversees technology product ownership and content management to ensure IAG is relevant and meaningful to customers in their connected world.


Your purpose and unique contribution is to provide leadership to enable IAG's digital platform experiences across Australia and NZ with the overarching goal of enhancing developer productivity.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic support to the Customer Technology leadership team, with the objective of activating the digital experience for insurance customers, colleagues and partners, end to end, inline with IAG's corporate and customer strategy.
  • Create market differentiation through deployment of resilient, innovative technology and contemporary methods, at scale.
  • Contribute to both Technology & Operations' and IAG's performance with insights, collaborative input and expertise that promotes value creation, innovation, and improved performance
  • Support the planning and execution of Technology & Operations' and Customer Technology's strategic priorities, operating model, and business plan
  • Establishing tools, standards, frameworks, and templates for our engineers to help them be more creative, innovative, and productive.
  • Research and propose new technologies and tools to improve our delivery speed and increase quality.
  • Build and champion a product mindset for the digital platform, ensuring teams focus on what provides real value for their internal customers based on continuous learning loops.
  • Develop and maintain digital platform roadmaps, including cost/value, sequencing of outcomes (economic/customer) for the AU and NZ insurance business, in line with the IAG strategy and business plans
  • Scope and stage the 'next' (35 year) technology plan for the digital platform in IAG

Skills & Experience

  • Background in cloud engineering, software development, and experience in agile software delivery.
  • Have led the adoption of cloudnative architecture in engineering teams and have experience in public cloud environments (AWS preferred).
  • Operational experience with development/administration of serverless framework, MFEs and microservices
  • Built standardised and highly automated CICD pipelines and integrated with best practice developer tooling
  • Defined engineering standards, practices and frameworks
  • Experience in fostering a customercentric environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to define, plan, and shape strategies and initiatives into tactical plans for successful delivery.
  • Developed leadership skills with a proven ability to role model values and behaviours.
  • Experience in building capability and optimising the performance of teams.
