About the department


The Infectious Diseases Department provides infectious disease care to inpatients and outpatients at Austin Health and the Mercy Hospital for Women, medical infection control advice for these two institutions and has an active research program in important areas such as antibiotic allergy and resistance, virology, COVID-19, genomics and transplant infectious diseases.


About the role
A Biobank Coordinator is required to manage the Australian Donation and Transplantation Biobank (ADTB).

The ADTB is an open access biobanking resource situated within the Department of Infectious Diseases, Austin Health that offers the scientific community access to high-quality human biospeciments for research studies.

The ADTB is unique in Australia and on of only a handful of such programs worldwide.


ADTB collaborates with DonateLife Victoria and the Liver Transplant Unit at Austin Health to give organ donors' families the opportunity to donate their loved ones organs directly to medical research when not used for transplantation.

A regular day will see you:


  • Respond to queries from ineterested researchers:

Assist with the coordination and distribution of biospecimens:


  • Enter clinical data for new donors in REDCap, liaising with DonateLife Victoria as required:

Maintain logs and records of ADTB donors, samples and researchers

About you

Ideally, you'll have:
-
Tertiary qualification as a Medical Scientist, Registered Nurse, Pharmacist or Allied Health professional:


  • Experience coordinating clinical trials or research projects with a sound understanding of ICH-GCP:

Strong organizational and time management skills:


  • The ability to work autonomously and within a team:
-
Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills (written, verbal):


  • Confidence with computers, particularly Office 365
