Mater Research is looking for a Postdoctoral Fellow - Genome Plasticity & Disease Group to join the team. This permanent, full-time role will be based at the Translational Research Institute, Woolloongabba.
Salary range:
$87,311 - $93,724
plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary
What you'll be doing
The postdoctoral researcher will contribute to the full spectrum of academic research underway in the Genome Plasticity & Disease Group, with a broad focus on mobile DNA activity in mammalian biology.
About you
You will have completed a Doctor of Philosophy in a relevant field of research.
- Essential _
- Extensive experience in molecular biology and/or functional genomic assays applied to understand the epigenetic and transcriptional regulation of genes, and the use of common research techniques applied in these areas.
- Experience with tissue culture and in vitro experimental models.
- Demonstrated experience in executing high quality research projects with successful outputs founded on strong project management skills with attention paid to accuracy and detail.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills including experience in writing conference abstracts and scientific manuscripts.
- Appropriate computer skills in using computer programs and webbased tools such as Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, statistical analysis software, referencing tools, Flow Cytometry Analysis Software, NCBI Resources including PubMed.
- Ability to rapidly acquire knowledge and technical expertise related to the research specialty.

- Experience with the generation and analysis of shortread (e.g. Illumina) or longread (e.g. nanopore) sequencing data.
- Knowledge of mobile DNA sequences, or similar related elements (e.g. retroviruses), and associated molecular processes.
