About the role

  • We are seeking a Tuckshop Convenor for our School to manage the efficient and effective day to day operation of the school tuckshop.
    Primary Function
  • Provide a balanced range of nutritional food at a reasonable cost to students and staff within the school, while maintaining a high standard of hygiene in the preparation, presentation and serving of food.
  • Coordinate the daily administration of the school tuckshop, supervise tuckshop volunteers;
  • Provide quality customer service to students, and staff through professional, timely and cost effective tuckshop services.

Requirements of this position:

  • Position begins from 7am with a 5hr shift. Service begins at 11:00am
  • Current and valid Working with Children Check Blue Card or ability to obtain.
  • Food Safety Handling Certificate; desirable.

The right person will:

  • Genuinely care about children
  • Coordinate the daily operation of the school tuckshop and oversee the preparation of food and counter services.
  • Be confident and experienced in preparing, baking & cooking to a high standard using fresh ingredients.
  • Look at offering healthy menu suggestions, menu planning & development, (includes recipe costings to ensure a profitable & costeffective menu)
  • Be highly organised and can efficiently prepare and serve a high volume of food whilst maintaining high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness, professionalism of kitchens and health & Safety Standards
  • Experience with ordering and stock management.
  • Welldeveloped communication skills, selfmotivated and possess the ability to work part of a small team, and autonomously contributing to a positive, supportive, and successful work environment with positive outcomes.
  • Oversee and manage volunteers who will help deliver an awesome canteen experience.

Experience & Skills:

  • Skills and experience in food preparation and advanced knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices
  • Welldeveloped interpersonal and organisational skills
  • High level of initiative and openness to new technology and processes
  • WHS awareness and knowledge of "Smart Choices" Nutrition Program for schools or similar
  • Food safety Certificates and have a strong knowledge of food handling & hygiene principles.
  • Current working with children blue card.
  • An ability to communicate with a range of staff across primary school settingsTo be eligible to be considered for this role you will:
  • hold a Paid Employee Positive Notice Blue Card prior to commencement;
- be eligible to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment; and
- have a commitment to and understanding of the ethos and traditions of Catholic Education.

School term weeks only (holidays unpaid)

Tenure duration (where Fixed Term)**:Term 3 (10 Weeks) - Replacing Long Service Leave

Total Paid Hours (per week) & days required:5 days/week (25 hours/week) - Monday to Friday - negotiable

Salary level, range or hourly rate:School Officer Level 3 - $30.97/hour plus Super
