About the role


Ethos Urban is seeking an Urbanist in Planning to join our team of urban development professionals in our Brisbane office.

This role will suit a dynamic and passionate individual looking to build a great foundation for their professional career and work within a highly regarded urban planning firm.


At Ethos Urban, we work in multi-disciplinary teams to approach projects from a holistic perspective - blending our services of urban design, economics, engagement, social strategy, project management and planning.

This unique approach means those in the early stages of their career are referred to as 'Urbanists' - as they learn to deliver urban solutions informed by a diverse range of expertise.

Urbanists have a broad understanding of the built environment and property industry.

They are collaborative and can work with a range of stakeholders to deliver the best urban outcomes for our clients and communities.

Key responsibilities

  • Have the opportunity to work across a diverse range of Brisbane's most complex urban projects from conceptualisation through to approval and delivery.
  • Work with and learn from some of the best planners and urban professional in the business.
  • Develop a broader skillset through working side by side with economists, urban designers, social planners, and community & stakeholder engagement professionals.
  • Enjoy working with a wide variety of clients including major landowners, state and local government authorities and agencies, and corporate developers.
  • Participate in all aspects of urban planning from proposal writing, research & analysis, plotting approvals pathways & processes, report writing and client management.

Who we are looking for

  • Hold a tertiary qualification in Town Planning or related degree/ discipline (essential).
  • Have 13 years' planning experience.
  • Knowledge of the QLD planning system.
  • Strong research, analytical and problemsolving skills.
  • Good report writing skills.
  • High level of verbal and written communication.
  • Good planning and organising skills.
  • Be adaptable & flexible in working across the organisation in various roles and responsibilities.
  • Build rapport with clients and other project team members easily.
  • Work cooperatively and flexibly with other team members.
  • Strive for excellence.
