The Opportunity

The successful candidate will join the Process Engineering team at Cochlear Brisbane Operations in Newstead.

As part of a larger cohort of Engineering talent, the Student Engineer will collaborate with a diverse group of individuals to support Quality, Yield & Efficiency initiatives. These efforts will drive changes to manufacturing processes for new and existing products, implementing risk mitigations to ensure stable and reliable manufacturing processes.

In this role, the successful candidate will apply their problem-solving skills to address real-world Engineering challenges, contributing to improving the hearing experience for our recipients.

Accountabilities Include:

  • Carry out day-to-day tasks following established procedures and processes.
  • Resolve issues using engineering tools and peer support, offering solutions to manufacturing challenges within Quality, Yield & Efficiency initiatives.
  • Adhere to quality procedures to deliver products and services, actively participating in continuous improvement efforts.
  • Be flexible in adapting to change and driving process improvements.
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and peers.
  • Consistently produce work following Cochlear's defined processes and procedures.

You Bring:

In this role at Cochlear, you will need to showcase the following skills, experience, and qualities to make a significant contribution.

Must Haves:

  • Currently studying at least Year 3
  • Pursuing or possessing Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, particularly in Mechanical / Electrical / Biomedical / Mechatronics Engineering.
  • Maintaining a minimum Distinction grade average
  • Submission of a Cover Letter with the application.
  • Demonstrated expertise in problem-solving and data analysis.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint.

  • Enthusiastic about working in a manufacturing role within a highly regulated sector.
