Kalogon, an early stage startup based in Melbourne, seeks a Head of Finance to help us as we grow our business by helping our Executive Team understand how the business is performing, paying our sales teams and staff in a timely manner, and ensuring that accounting operations run smoothly.

You will play a pivotal role in our business, overseeing both accounting and finance needs.


This position provides a real time view of a rapidly growing company, internal operations, with lots of opportunity for cross-functional collaboration.


Controller Functions Deliver critical financial reports (monthly close, quarterly, and yearly reports) to leadership and executive team with detailed analysis - along with quarterly presentations to board Work with key team members on build of material and cost of goods sold reporting and helpteam to identify cost savings, lead time gaps, and to manage investment in inventory Ensure team can understand true COGs, both from a production and labor perspective Manage expense approval policies process both for personal expenses and departmental spends Manage vendor inquiries and concerns, facilitating communication with accountants as needed Create monthly reports for sales team and independent sales reps that accurately reflect totalsales and commensurate commissions Process payroll Streamline and shorten month end close process Assess external finance/accounting agencies performance and ensure costs are in line withprovided value Lead accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and internal processes forreconciling transactions, including invoice billings and reimbursements Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of financial transactions Negotiating payment terms with vendors to reduce cash conversion cycle Provide strategic financial guidance and support to leadership FP&A Functions Own operational model - working with key stakeholders to update, refine, and improve accuracy for use in making business decisions and fundraising Develop and design annual budgeting process, working with department leaders to owndepartmental budgets Monthly variance analysis, identifying trends and key drivers of performance Collaborate with various business leaders with project-related financial tasks such as employeeleveling and salary bands, customer acquisition costs, incentive compensation and payments Initiate and work with CEO and executive team on financial policies and systems that improveefficiencies Review and streamline cross functional processes to remove unnecessary friction points Qualifications Proven experience in finance, planning, operations, and accounting roles Proficiency in accounting software such as Quick Books or similar platforms Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities Self-starter who can multitask, prioritize tasks effectively, and solve problems Proficiency in Google Suite (Gmail, Google Docs, Google Sheets) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)Knowledge of basic office equipment and procedures Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance Bonus Experience Familiarity with cost-based accounting Experience with scrappy startups and entreprenerial spirit Building and leading a small finance team to support a growing startup About the company and our products Kalogon is the trailblazer in smart seating, offering solutions for medical, aviation, and automotive customers, solving seated health issues.
