The Role
ALS Metallurgy, a subsidiary in the ALS Group, is seeking a HSE Officer for our busy business based in the northern suburbs of Perth.
This is a permanent fulltime position, working days are Monday to Friday, normal working hours are 7am to 3pm, although some flexibility may be required.
The day to day
Duties include:
- Conduct risk and hazard assessments.
- Conduct and document incident/accident and hazard investigations and present recommendations to ALS Management.
- Assist Management with development of HSE policies and procedures in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Consult staff, supervisors, and managers with respect to safety and other compliance needs.
- Complete Workplace Inspections
- Advise on HSE issues and assist management to remediate in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Provide HSE training and HSE inductions to all new staff members/ visitors.
- Conduct occupational hygiene monitoring.
- Assist Management to maintain compliance documentation, permits and licenses.
- Liaise with Doctors, OT professionals, Regulators regarding injury and safety issues, Develop Return to Work and Suitable Duty Plans for workers in recovery.
- Administer "fit for work" systems including drug and alcohol testing.
- Facilitate communication of HSE current information to site workers through verbal (meetings), electronic (memos) and print (Toolbox Talks and Safety Alerts) media
- Consult on Project specific HSE requirements as needed, liaising with ALS Management staff and external clients as required.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities and other external bodies when required.

The essentials
- Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety or equivalent is preferable.
- Recent graduates with up to 2 years' experience are encouraged to apply.
- An understanding of quality systems and requirements is desirable.
- You have highly developed computer skills
- You have excellent attention to detail
- You have welldeveloped communication skills
- You can work in a team environment
- You are a selfstarter with initiative and a 'can do' attitude
