About the Role

You will be working a combined Dental Assistant and Medical Receptionist in this role, and as a Bench position it covers all our locations in Northern NSW.

As a Dental Assistant you will be responsible for providing chair-side assistance to the Dentist/Dental Specialist/Hygienist in the delivery of dental services to patients. You will also assist with administrative tasks such as entering/updating patient records as well as other duties as required by the Dentist including promotion of oral health to patients and maintaining optimal hygiene of the surgery.

As a Health Clerk you will be responsible for providing clerical services including maintenance of electronic and hard copy health records, maintaining databases and information management systems, filing and photocopying and ordering stationery. You will also communicate with internal and external customers to obtain patient information as required. The work you undertake will be in accordance with Defence Policies and Procedures, Medical-in-Confidence and Staff-in-Confidence standards.

This is a bench role which means you may not be provided a full roster and instead, you'll be paid to be at home (on the 'bench') until you are scheduled to attend a shift during the week to make up the hours and of course provide much needed support for unplanned and planned leave or surges due to deployments or ADF Assist programs. If you're not scheduled for full time shifts in a week, you still get paid full time - even if you only work part time hours.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • The highest levels of personal integrity and ethical behaviour.
  • Certificate III in Dental Assisting or nationally recognised equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum of 2 years (full time equivalent) experience within the last 5 years in dental assisting, and a minimum of 1 year experience as a Medical Receptionist.
  • Recent participation in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities.
  • Current First Aid (HLTAID011) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (HLTAID009) certification.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a multi-disciplinary team to support the delivery of safe, efficient and high-quality care to patients within a dental surgery.
