CSIRO Early Research Career (CERC) Postdoctoral Fellowships provide opportunities to scientists and engineers who have completed their doctorate and have less than three years of relevant postdoctoral work experience.

These fellowships aim to develop the next generation of future leaders of the innovation system.

Your duties will include:

  • Defining project goals, developing the research plan, specifying collaborative work with project members, and managing and delivering the project.
  • Designing, setting up and operating a CO2 capture and electrolysis facility.
  • Leading research and technical efforts to gain new knowledge and make technological breakthroughs, including development of effective chemical absorbents and electrocatalysts, and elucidation of the captureelectrolysis mechanism.
  • Collaborating on material characterisation and technoeconomic assessment.

Newcastle, NSW

Salary:
AU$92k - AU$101k plus up to 15.4% superannuation

To be considered you will need:

  • A doctorate (or will shortly satisfy the requirements of a PhD) in a relevant discipline area, such as materials science and technology, electrochemistry or chemical engineering

Please note:

To be_ _eligible for this role you must have no more than 3 years (or full-time equivalent) of postdoctoral research experience_.

_

  • Strong fundamental understanding of and/or practical experience with electrochemical CO2 conversion processes.
  • Excellent laboratory skills, including the design and engineering of benchscale experimental facilities, and synthesis and characterisation of nanomaterials.
  • High level written and oral communication skills with the ability to represent the research team effectively internally and externally, including the presentation of research outcomes at national and international conferences.
