NTT is seeking a Systems/Platform Engineer to be part of a newly established team supporting day-to-day operations in a diverse IT environment with multiple vendors. Engineers play a key role in ensuring the ongoing operation of client IT infrastructure, systems, and solutions by proactively identifying, investigating, and resolving technical issues, restoring services, and enabling automated management and control of these systems.

Engineers play a vital role in ensuring the ongoing operation of client IT infrastructure, systems, and solutions by proactively identifying, investigating, and resolving technical issues, restoring services, and enabling automated management and control of these systems.

This position within the Government Operations Team will focus on administering and supporting the platform network and infrastructure for a specific client.

ESSENTIAL: Applicants must be Australian Citizens and hold AGSVA NV1 Security Clearance or have the ability to obtain AGSVA NV1 Security Clearance.

Primary Duties

  • Offer technical support, maintenance, and management for managed solutions, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
  • Work independently, following general instructions from clients, stakeholders, team leads, or senior managers, to resolve incidents and requests within agreed-upon SLAs, while keeping tickets consistently updated with resolution tasks.
  • Proactively identify, investigate, and document issues and errors before or as they arise, capturing all necessary information for immediate resolution.
  • Plan and execute complex system changes during specified change windows, collaborating with clients, vendors, and partners to minimize business disruptions.
  • Monitor the performance and capacity of supported devices and applications, assisting in capacity planning and management for future scalability.
  • Identify recurring issues to initiate problem management, enhancing system reliability and user experience.
  • Contribute actively to automation initiatives, working with automation teams to optimize tasks and automate routine operations.
  • Test new software versions and patches, evaluating their suitability for release and their effectiveness in addressing issues.
  • Review and propose enhancements to architecture, design, and as-built documentation, improving system performance and efficiency.
  • Support project delivery, ensuring alignment with system requirements and facilitating a seamless operational handover.
  • Guide L1/L2 Engineers, offering technical expertise and mentorship for their professional growth.
  • Participate in on-call rotations, providing 24x7 support for systems and ensuring continuous service availability.

What will set you up for success in this role?

Education

  • a minimum of a recognized Diploma in a relevant IT or Engineering field
  • Linux certifications (RHCT, RHCE, LPIC 2, LFCE) are highly valued

Technical Experience:

Must-haves

  • Proficiency in Icinga2 (or Nagios or Zabbix) for comprehensive monitoring of network and application health.
  • Expertise in automating IT processes with Ansible for configuration management and application deployment.
  • Expertise in developing, configuring, and managing Linux-based Standard Operating Environments. Proficiency in scripting and automation for effective deployment and management of Linux SOE across diverse hardware platforms. Experience in ensuring system security, consistency, and compliance with industry standards through efficient SOE management.

  • Experience in server hardware management, especially with Cisco servers such as the C-240-M6SX, CS C220-M5L, and UCS S3260, and the Cisco HX-FI-6454 for fabric interconnection.
  • Cloud-based infrastructure management capabilities using Cisco Intersight for intelligent operations of UCS and HyperFlex systems.
  • VMware vCenter
  • Cisco Hyperflex Storage Manager

Experience

  • 7 years of experience in developing and managing complex application environments, with a deep comprehension of underlying infrastructure nuances.
  • Proficient in implementing robust application configuration change processes, contributing to reliable and efficient application operations.
  • Well-versed in the challenges and priorities of operating within a 24x7, safety-first environment, emphasizing a commitment to continuous uptime and safety.
  • Significant experience and advanced skills with Nagios for monitoring complex application and system infrastructures, adept in customizing and optimizing Nagios for specific monitoring needs.
  • Proven ability in managing and optimizing PostgreSQL databases, including performance tuning, backup and recovery, and ensuring high availability and security.
  • Solid experience in working with managed services, showcasing an ability to handle outsourced application solutions effectively.
  • Excellent knowledge and hands-on experience with ticketing tools, with a preference for ServiceNow, facilitating efficient issue tracking and resolution
