The casual teacher, Electrical/Electronics provides professional teaching and vocational expertise, across all aspects of delivery, planning and performance to ensure excellent outcomes for learners, the organisations that employ them and the communities they serve.

This position focuses on excellence in learner support, teaching delivery and learning assessment, resource development and educational administration.


The incumbent is a key and active participant of the Electrical business area and works to promote educational excellence, business growth and student-centred services for the business area.


Your key accountabilities will be to:

  • Plan education practices and delivery sessions that reflect the most effective way to engage learners


In addition to developing and delivering planned teaching sessions in a variety of innovative and adaptive ways, using technology, including Moodle, to engage learners and meet their needs and learning styles.


  • Ensure that teaching materials and resources meet all regulatory standards, training packages and related requirements
  • Enhance the student experience to improve engagement early on and assist learners to interact with their academic and social environment to prevent attrition and encourage success
  • Work with learners to improve their employability and life skills and liaise with key stakeholders such as employers, schools and other education providers to explore pathway options for learners as required.
  • Ensure high quality, up to date and relevant teaching delivery, assessment and student engagement strategies to support learner success and contribute to the achievement of Chisholm shared goals.
  • Undertake professional development to ensure vocational and educational currency is up to date and complete and actively participate in the development of own annual professional development plan and vocational competency map and professional currency record consistent with Institute practices and policies

ABOUT YOU

You will have the following relevant tertiary qualifications:

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116)
  • Vocational qualifications at an AQF level equivalent to the highest level of teaching of the discipline
  • Vocational currency as demonstrated through a range of work and related experience
  • Registration with relevant professional bodies/associations as required for the discipline


Crucial to your success will be your demonstrated ability to motivate and guide students to optimise their learning outcomes with effective verbal and written communication skills relevant to a learning environment and collaborative workplace.


You are a highly motivated individual with well-developed skills in transferring knowledge, including the ability to research, select and use a wide range of learning resources and assessment tools, in addition to a strong understanding of contemporary approaches to education, teaching and learning.
