About the role:

We are currently seeking multiple individuals who are highly passionate about working in a space with students and providing high quality care and support to both students and teachers. The ideal candidate will be capable of working in a classroom setting with vulnerable primary aged students as this school is a specialist school. The role is Monday - Friday 30 hours a week with a start time of 8:45am and a finish time of 3:30pm.

About you:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to follow instructions from teachers as well as use initiative
  • Compassionate, caring and patient
  • Capable of providing physical and emotional support to students
  • Must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Willing to attend RTO/TAFE training located in Deer Park during school holidays
  • Valid Victorian Working with Children Check
  • Able to commit to a 12 month Traineeship

What you will do:

  • Work with teachers and other teacher aides as part of a team delivering educational programs to students.
  • Communicate with students in the delivery of educational programs and assisting communications between students and teachers (for example, PECS program).
  • Support teachers with the implementation of student programs and daily routines.
  • Support teachers by providing a consistent approach to learning and behaviour management.
  • Observe students and share observations with teachers.
  • Under the direction of the teacher, assist with communications between school, parents/carers and the wider school community.
  • Provide supervision to students in classroom setting as well as playground and other school programs
  • Provide personal care to student wellbeing
  • Prepare and maintain classroom environment
  • Produce teaching and learning resources
