We currently have an opportunity for a values-driven and proactive Specialist Family Violence Practitioner to provide outreach case management support.

  • The Salvation Army Australia's Family Violence Stream provides a wide range of services around the country to support women and women with children impacted by family and domestic violence. We offer refuge, children's and parenting services, counselling, support, men's programs, accommodation and advice to women and children who are experiencing, or who have experienced, family violence. The Family Violence Services works with service users from a feminist perspective, aiming to empower and increase the safety of women and children.
About the role

  • We currently have an opportunity for a valuesdriven and proactive Specialist Family Violence Practitioner to provide outreach case management support to women and women with children who have experienced and/ or are currently experiencing family violence. This position is instrumental in delivering high quality, safe and effective family violence and child wellbeing responses to those seeking support, safety, and recovery. The position also encompasses the delivery of assessment and crisis response to adult and child victimsurvivors in the 24/7 refuge or in crisis accommodation. This role will be positioned within the Refuge and Afterhours Crisis Response teams of the Victorian Northwest Family Violence Programs.
You will successfully

  • Effective relationships are established with clients that encourage selfdetermination and participation and uphold the principles of the National Family Violence Model of Care
  • Case management and crisis support is provided to clients in accordance with TSA case management models and standards of practice
  • Ongoing assessment is made of the victim survivor's issues, needs and circumstances from initial intake to exit
  • Individual case plans are developed in collaboration with victim survivors and include a range of interventions that address the needs or goals of clients
  • Case plans are implemented and actively led by the victim survivor
  • Victim survivors are assisted to access holistic support services and establish community connections, and where needed are assisted through advocacy with service providers
  • For adult and child victim survivors at the refuge, progress and outcomes of individual case plans are regularly monitored and reviewed and where needed action is taken to ensure the plan continues to meet client needs or goals
  • Immediate material aid and other relevant needs of the adult and child victim survivors in crisis accommodation are supported
  • Work collaboratively with referring organisations to provide crisis support for adult and child victim survivors
  • Accurate, up to date client records and data is maintained for all clients in accordance with TSA standards and procedures using TSA information systems
  • Risks to victim survivors, staff and TSA are identified and bought to the attention of the Team Leader as soon as possible
  • Service gaps are identified and recommendations for service delivery improvements are made to the Team Leader
  • Key performance indicators are met in accordance with outcome measurement timeframes
This is a part-time position, 22.5 hours per week fixed term to June 2023. Salary and conditions are in accordance with SCHADS Level - You will have

  • A Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent formal learning
  • Experience working in the family violence sector is desirable
  • Experience in specialist family violence and/ or child wellbeing work is highly desirable
  • Demonstrated case management experience and skills
  • Highly developed time management and work prioritisation skills with an ability to work autonomously with mínimal supervision required
  • Advance computer skills including experience in data and record management
  • Valid VIC Employee Working with Children Check
  • Ability to provide proof of Eligibility to Work in Australia
