Start your Horticulture career with an apprenticeship through HVTC Group & Host Employer, Singleton Council.

About this opportunity


You will complete a Cert III in Parks and Gardens over 48 months through a combination of formal training with a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and practical on-the-job experience with Host Employer, Singleton Council.

Throughout your formal training and practical experience in the workplace, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Provide high quality lawn care such as weeding, mowing lawns, pruning trees and basic grounds maintenance tasks on Government / Council sites.
  • Maintenance of a variety of local grounds, Utilities and parks etc.
  • Use hand and power tools such as lawn mowers, whipper snipper, pruners, slashers, chainsaws and blower vacs.
  • Assist in general maintenance duties that are within the limits of the skills, competence and ability of a trainee / apprentice

The successful applicant
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following capabilities and knowledge:

  • Commitment to both on and off the job training
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn and develop new skills and knowledge
  • Ability to follow instructions
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Physically fit and able to withstand the physical demands of the job
  • Ability to undertake a preemployment medical including a drug and alcohol test

Mandatory Requirements

  • White Card (or willingness to obtain)
  • Current manual drivers licence (P1 or above)
  • COVID19 vaccination
  • Ability to undertake a Medical including a drug and alcohol screen, audiometry and spirometry
