WHAT YOU'LL DO:


The span of the role includes driving the staffing process with high quality engagement and exceptional transparency across the AP region with a deep focus on ANZ, SEA, and Greater China staff; and with Staffing Coordinator support for other systems including India and NEA.

The key goal of the staffing function is to optimize the assignments of BCG X team members (billability) considering dynamic business priorities and the growth needs of our consulting teams.


The primary focus of this position is to balance preferences of the staff member (e.g., type of case/topic, location), the product/client (e.g., for people with prior knowledge of/experience with the product/client, specific skills), and the Leadership/Managers responsible for the work and delivering on it.

This work requires a broad set of responsibilities including:

  • Building and maintaining deep, trusted relationships with BCG X consulting staff and Project & Office leadership
  • Driving accuracy and visibility of all relevant staffing information (skills, availability, constraints etc.) aligning on specific staffing needs
  • Responding to staffing requests in a timely manner
  • Weekly reporting on staffing status and collaborating with Finance, HR and Recruiting across various people topics


The AP Staffing Lead plays a critical operational role for driving value and consistency for BCG X across the region.

BCG X has a coordinated global staffing process that is intrinsically aligned with the BCG cultural values of openness, transparency, and balance.

It is imperative that this role develops deep and trusted relationships with BCG X consultants to build on the foundations of open communication and transparent information regarding case opportunities.


YOU'RE GOOD AT:

Staffing:

  • Responsible for optimizing the deployment of the BCG X consulting resources (currently at 120 FTEs across the region) to meet the needs of our business while ensuring that each BCG X consultant receives the right set of opportunities to support their immediate BCG Career Development objectives and their overall longterm professional goals
  • Maintain an acute awareness of the business environment and priorities; understand objectives of client/cases and openly communicate information relative to case opportunities with individuals whilst engaging with senior stakeholders and team leadership on available staff portfolio
  • Build strong relationships with BCG X consultants to understand their development needs and preferences for staffing across a spectrum of cultures; discuss upcoming projects; advise on staffing choices to achieve balance between BCG's business needs and personal preferences when possible; communicate staffing decisions and related rationale; set and enforce staffing policies and expectations
  • Drive the weekly and monthly reporting process by establishing transparency for current/planned resource allocation, people commitments such as training and vacation, ensuring the relevant tools and trackers are kept uptodate and used consistently. Participate in the ongoing improvement of our staffing processes, systems, and toolkit
  • Responsible for driving staffing system usage and (SAM) accuracy; using the system to maximum effect in the staffing process. Continuously driving improvement to the reporting tools and acting as a SAM system super user as SAM becomes the system of record for the HR teams and systems (Workday) for CDC processes to be initiated

Collaboration with Career Development, HR and Recruiting:

  • Actively engage in all BCG X APAC Career Development Committee (CDC) meetings and reinforce CD messages through staffing and development discussions to support individual and cohort development
  • Provide recruiting team with inputs on office/business needs relative but not limited to; tenure, experience, industry, and functional practice area requirements
  • Provides input to HR, Mobility Teams, and relevant stakeholders to approve individual participation in various mobility programs
  • Provide input to broader Staffing and HR Teams to maintain up to date, accurate information on staff including case assignments, training, vacation, recruiting and LOA

Engagement:

  • Monitor staff activity and participation in key aspects of morale, retention, and affiliation (e.g., integration and affiliation programs and events, MDAs, red zone reports, PTO support)
  • Drive regional coordination across staffing team and including COS and mobility
  • Motivate, help to develop, and provide advice to junior members of the consulting team
  • Guide BCG X staff throughout their employment lifecycle on case work opportunities; acting as a trusted advisor to guide individuals into mutually beneficial outcomes
  • Independently manage interactions with senior stakeholders across the AP Region including BCG X leadership, Senior BCG X Consulting Staff and other BCG X Business Management Directors
