Location: CanberraThe Corporate Services Branch oversees the efficient, effective and ethical management of the National Archives' resources. This is done in accordance with the Commonwealth's financial, procurement, employment, security and property legislative and policy frameworks. The branch supports the workforce, facilities and culture it requires to deliver its strategic priorities and remain sustainable.


The Finance and Procurement section is responsible for the provision of high quality, timely and accurate financial and procurement advice and services to the National Archives while ensuring it meets its legislative and compliance financial framework obligations.

Under limited direction the main duties of the Procurement and Contracts Officer role are to:

  • Provide quality, accurate and timely procurement advice to stakeholders to ensure compliance in accordance with the Commonwealth Procurement Rules and the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act.
  • Work with business areas to identify procurement needs, and encourage early engagement, alongside decision makers to ensure procurements are effective, promote proper use of resources, and deliver value for money.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for internal use that is easy to use and consistent with better practices.
  • Create, update and maintain procurement records in Tech One and BuyICT.
  • Create, update and maintain Austender approaches to market, panel arrangements and reporting obligations.
  • Work with stakeholders to ensure that contracts are properly managed, reported internally and externally.
  • Provide contract management and contract relationship support internally to the National Archives.
  • In conjunction with procurement team members, act as a centre of excellence for procurement activities undertaken by the National Archives of Australia.
Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field and completion of or significant progress towards professional qualifications would be highly regarded.

Eligibility:

To be eligible for the role you must be an Australian citizen.

If you are selected, you will be required to successfully undergo a pre-employment check and be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at a Baseline clearance level.
