Based in our Oakleigh office in the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne we have 2 exciting opportunities for talented and experienced Senior Electrical Engineers / Technical Designers to join our team.

Since 1976, Balpara has extensive knowledge in all departments of engineering, project management, design, survey, audits, and location of constructed electrical assets. Our team has a depth of experience and maturity, offering services to the power utilities, civil, electrical and environmental engineering consultancies, electrical contractors, developers, councils and transport bodies.

Our exciting positions will offer you flexible working arrangements, growth and the opportunity to mentor and train others.

We have 2 opportunities One for an Overhead Designer and the other for an Underground Designer in the Power Distribution Network.
About the roles:
Overhead:

  • LV & HV conductor upgrade / change of X-arms and pole replacements
  • Pole top substations – upgrade / replace
  • ACR & HV switches – upgrade / replace
  • LV / HV pole replacement / relocate
  • Public lighting supply
  • Asset relocation – modification of overhead line assets to suit demand and project scope
  • Earthing plans for pole substations
  • Pole to pit single line supply according to project scope
  • Offer design solutions to ensure best outcome for constructability.

Underground:

  • LV/HV conduit & cable installation and termination
  • Sub abolishment
  • Produce designs taking into consideration other utilities in the vicinity
  • Kiosk substations – upgrade / replace
  • Offer design solutions to ensure best outcome for constructability
  • Provide peer QA according to Utilities standards

To succeed you'll need:

  • Overhead and / or underground power distribution design experience and familiar with the network standards
  • Proficient AutoCAD drafting
  • Experience with overhead design software (nPoles, Poles N Wires, and Neara)
  • Well-developed written and oral communication skills
  • RPEV accreditation advantages
