About the role


This position is a fantastic opportunity to develop your skills and get your foot in the door to begin a rewarding career within the aquatic and leisure industry and local council.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Supervise patrons in and around the aquatic area
  • Set up and pack up the aquatic area for various water activities
  • Implement emergency/first aid/resuscitation procedures as required
  • Ensure customers adhere to centre rules and policies
  • Perform a range of cleaning and maintenance duties

About you

We are looking for individuals who:

  • Can think on their feet and respond appropriately in high pressured situations
  • Demonstrate initiative and are friendly and approachable
  • Interact confidently with a diverse range of people
  • Are passionate and enthusiastic about providing a safe aquatic environment for all
  • Are available early mornings, late afternoons and weekends

Have the following qualifications:

  • Current Australian Pool Lifeguard Award (or willing to obtain)
  • Current Provide First Aid Certificate (or willing to obtain)
  • Working with Children Check (Employee)
Glen Eira Leisure has operating hours ranging from 5:30am until 10:30pm. This role will be required to work within these times and must be available on weekends.

Pool Lifeguard courses:

  • Thurs 30 Nov: 4pm 5pm OR
  • Thurs 7 Dec: 4pm 5pm OR
  • Thurs 14 Dec: 4pm 5pm OR
  • Thurs 4 Jan: 3pm to 4pm
If successful, you will also be invited to attend one of the following Pool Lifeguard Courses qualification courses to be run at GESAC and subsidised by GEL:

Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd December from 9.00am to 5.30pm at Waves Leisure Centre

OR

Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st December from 9.00am to 5.30pm at GESAC

OR

Sunday 6th and 7th December from 9.00am to 5.30pm at GESAC

_ Please note a First Aid Level 2 qualification Is required for the successful completion of the Lifeguard course_**
