The role

As the Senior Data Scientist, you will support geoscience data management through tasks such as data cleaning and developing AI and ML models. You will also oversee the entire lifecycle of these models, including monitoring and maintenance. This role includes upholding standards for AI and ML methods and ensuring robust implementation across projects.

In addition, this role involves mentoring internal staff and collaborating with geoscientists to deliver insights from internal datasets. You will provide technical advice on strategies, implementation, and the effectiveness of ML and AI methodologies, while offering leadership, direction, and guidance on data science methods and techniques. Identifying technologies to enhance geoscience data insights and operating within the department's corporate governance framework, policies, and procedures will be key to your success in this role.

While this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other similar vacancies (permanent, fixed-term, full-time or part-time) within the department for the next 12 months, from the date that the recruitment breach period has been finalised.
