As the Operational Risk Advisor you will drive and assist in the design, implementation and on-going maintenance of operational risk management methodology and practices by providing an independent view, specialist support and advice to the Bank.

Utilise a broad commercial focus and business acumen/knowledge to take the lead in the maturing of Operational Risk techniques and approaches across the Bank.


What you'll do

  • Conduct independent reviews of Bank risk profiles (for completeness, currency and consistency) and discuss the outcomes with the Business with the view to ensuring an appropriate assessment and, if required, escalation to risk management where further consideration by the Business is required.
  • Conduct risk monitoring activities by analysing risk events, audit reports, due diligence reports, tracking key risk indicators, external events and emerging risks and through constant contact with the Business, for example by attending Bank risk and compliance meetings and forums.
  • Contribute to the identification and mitigation of emerging risks across the Bank by maintaining and understanding of relevant industry and regulatory developments.
  • Contribute to the ongoing improvement and implementation of the operational risk management framework and system.
  • In conjunction with Bank stakeholders, assist in the identification, assessment, mitigation and monitoring of operational risks using a consistent operational risk management framework and approach.
  • Proactively lead, coach and develop the capability of the Bank in the areas of the operational risk management framework and methodology to help the business improve their risk identification and management skill.

What you'll bring

  • Degree in a business or risk related discipline (
    desired)
  • Post Graduate qualifications well regarded (
    desired)
  • 5+ years of experience in operational risk management or business operations management in Banking management.
  • Developed understanding of market and external environment including banking and financial industry principles and regulations.
  • Experience in the coordination of key programs of work or projects.
