At Laing O'Rourke, we're committed to equipping our interns with the foundational knowledge and skills needed for success.
As part of our comprehensive 12-week Internship Programme, you'll have the chance to work on a real project site during the summer.
Here's what you can expect:
Hands-On Experience:
Get involved in meaningful work that contributes to our projects.
Guidance and Support:
Receive supervision, feedback, and mentorship from industry professionals.
Weekly Training Sessions:
Enhance your skills through specialized training sessions.
Networking:
Connect with a dedicated buddy and fellow interns.
The Internship Programme is open to penultimate year university students (second last year), who are intending to graduate in 2025.
It allows you to experience working at Laing O'Rourke, get a sense of our culture and gain a better understanding of the job and future career pathway.
Following your Internship, you will receive priority consideration for our 2026 Graduate Development Programme.There may also be opportunities for you to remain in the business in a casual capacity while you complete your studies.
About the Services Engineering (Electrical and Mechanical) streamA sample of the type of tasks you may complete as a Services Engineering (Electrical and Mechanical) Intern include:
Conducting regular site inspections, preparing reports and closing out actions raised
Supporting the planning, procurement and supervision of construction and reporting on progress.
Reviewing the trade's proposed work methodologies and assessing their Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS)
Assessing trade packages against the scope of works and client requirements
Creating a services interface matrix to define the scope of works and battery limits for each trade
Reviewing design drawings and developing staging diagrams.
Coordination of services routes and clash detection within the Digital Model
Monitoring Quality of trade works via Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and Inspection & Test Records (ITRs)
Witnessing the testing and operation of Electrical and Mechanical systems
Eligibility and how to apply
To be eligible for our Internship Programme, you must meet the following criteria:
At time of application, hold Australian/ New Zealand citizenship or Permanent Residency.
Be in your second last year of university studies (penultimate year).
Be studying a relevant degree to the role advertised, Bachelor of Electrical Engineering / Mechanical Engineering or related degree.
You will be required to complete an online application form and upload your CV and academic transcript (online transcript is acceptable).
