About the Role

Join our team as the Aboriginal Workforce Officer, part time (3 days a week) ongoing contract. Whilst the role is based at the Kingston Centre in Cheltenham, travel to other Monash Health sites to meet business needs will be required.

This is a designated position under s.12 Special Measures of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010. Only Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people are eligible to apply.

In this role, you will assist the Workforce Advisor in the development and implementation of the Allied Health Strategic Workforce Plan with an Aboriginal expertise. This will include managing projects and programs developed to improve the recruitment and retention of Aboriginal Allied Health clinicians and associated communications. Your involvement will extend to include:

  • Enhance evidence based practice within Monash Health Allied Health across programs by aligning projects to organisational strategic and priority area, in alignment with the reconciliation action plan
  • Support the implementation of face-to-face Cultural sensitivity training across Allied Health
  • Support the embedding of culturally responsive research practices in collaboration with the Allied Health Research lead.
  • Work collaboratively to maintain partnerships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Be the champion for practice change by supporting clinicians, managers, and directors to translate evidence into culturally safe practices.

About Allied Health Workforce, Innovation, Strategy, Education and Research (WISER) unit at Monash Health

There are over 1800 Allied Health employees across Monash Health. The Allied Health WISER unit provides support and governance for allied health in regard to student and staff education delivery and best practice, credentialing and scope of practice, allied health assistance advice, informatics and projects as delegated by the Chief Allied Health Officer at Monash Health. We work across Monash Health's seven public hospitals, 21 community health sites, five aged care facilities, university affiliated international research and tertiary education. We provide healthcare for the entire lifespan from pre-birth to palliative care and all stages in between, and we have recently opened the new 230-bed Monash Children's Hospital.

About You

You have been developing your project management and leadership skills or you are an accomplished project leader. You are ready to think differently to ensure we have the best supports for Aboriginal allied health clinicians at Monash Health. You are also an advocate of Monash Health's Strategic Guiding Principles and 5 ICare values. To ensure your success in this role you will bring the following demonstrated skills, experience and knowledge. You are an experienced allied health clinician who is a positive change maker. You are culturally sensitive, eager to collaborate and learn, as well as educate and research through project management. In addition you will bring:

  • Qualification in an Allied Health discipline
  • Current non-limited AHPRA registration if applicable for professional group
  • Eligible for membership with the appropriate professional association
  • Significant demonstrated experience as an Allied Health Professional
  • Post graduate qualifications in Management, Research, Leadership or Public Health or progressing towards one of these is encouraged.
