Dietitian - Enhancing End of Life Care

About the role:

  • In this role the main focus involves supporting patients dealing with chronic pain to improve their nutritional intake as a component of their comprehensive pain management approach.
  • Skills in enhancing behavioural change are highly valued.
  • This position is a clinical position with the work spanning individual and group sessions, both in person and via telehealth, as well as creating education resources.

Where you'll be working:

  • Hunter Integrated Pain Service (HIPS) is a tertiary multidisciplinary pain service located on the John Hunter Hospital Campus (JHH).
  • HIPS prides itself on a broad biopsychosocial 'whole person' approach to chronic pain management.
  • Our team are friendly, respectful and passionate about supporting patients to recover from chronic pain, with a focus on selfmanagement.

Requirements:

  • An approved tertiary qualification: Bachelor or postgraduate degree in nutrition and dietetics which provides eligibility for full membership of the Dietitians' Association of Australia, or other qualification deemed equivalent by the Employer.
  • Demonstrated relevant clinical experience in delivering or facilitating pain management group program sessions with a trauma informed psychological focus or willingness to undertake same.
  • Experience working in a team, supporting patients with complex psychosocial issues, assisting in case coordination, patient flow and quality improvement activities in the service or willingness to undertake same.
  • Current unencumbered driver's licence.

About you:

  • You will have extensive clinical dietetic experience in the management of patients with chronic diseases and management of nutritionrelated behaviours.
  • You will have highly developed verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences.
