The Apprentice Workshop Technician performs supervised repairs on a defined product set, to component level, whilst maintaining acceptable capacity and high standards of repairs.

The role will focus on performing repairs whilst learning how to diagnose and repair technical faults in a cost-effective manner, using acquired business judgement, and seeking advice from their supervisor to scrap items that are no longer required in the business.


Key Accountabilities under direct supervision:

  • Perform repairs on equipment up to a prescribed level, assigning taught priorities to the repair of a variety of products required to ensure SLAs are achieved, and to maintain workshop product production.
  • Participate in a learning capacity in the regular reviews of faulty stock within your assigned area, learning techniques to assess, repair, scrap or move to long term storage.
  • Employ demonstrated repair techniques to ensure repairs are performed effectively and efficiently to contribute to the profitable performance of the workshop, with a focus towards continual improvement.
  • Constructively work with others to ensure the best outcomes for the business.
  • Participate in crosstraining to ensure the team possess the appropriate skills as required.

Attend, and successfully complete, scheduled training at selected RTO

Requirements are:

  • The ability to follow spoken and written instructions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Successful completion of Year 10 High School.


To be eligible for an apprenticeship or traineeship you must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or have full working rights.
